New media
Yep I work with new media. – you know- the stuff that is always the newest of new.
Well some of that new media has been arround for ages compared to Internet years which is a lot like dog years. Facebook for example is almost standard and we can’t think of Internet without it, though it might come sooner than you think.
Jaiku is another not so fortunate phenomenon. Being the beta-max of Twitter it perhaps was just that bit better, but Twitters smaller package caught people’s eye and became the winner in that race.
We wouldn’t consider forums a new media thing, and is in fact one of the oldest things around on the Internet and it’s validity is proven again and again. Just look at Facebook pages… They have forums still. It is despite it’s roughish structure still one of the best ways to let people talk and share knowledge across multiple topics.
But of course the “new” in new media is also a reminder that new ways of communicating with others or using the Internet alone (a fact i think many forget) keep emerging, and it is practical impossible to keep track of them all, though i do my very best to be on top ;)
Two such truley “new” things is the birthe of Google wave and Google OS. What will come of it, is still too early to tell though you will find plenty of “experts” telling you already.
So much is there, that my job is to point to the stuff that is relevant to you, and hopefully give you a clue as to how to utilize it.
If you want to get a glimps of the interesting stuff i find “out there” follow my Google reader feed – or drop me a message any way you like and we can talk :)
